Junk removal

General Junk Removal

Some junk just does not fit into one neat category, and that is exactly what this service is for. General junk removal means our crew arrives, you point at the pile, and it leaves in our truck: boxes, bags, broken furniture, old toys, exercise equipment, and the mystery stack in the corner that has survived three spring cleanings. We sort it, lift it, load it, and haul it away, then donate and recycle everything we can.

One visit is usually all it takes, and same-day or next-day pickups are available in most areas.

What counts as general junk

If a crew can carry it and it is not hazardous, it qualifies. The most common things we haul on general pickups:

Have a full room, garage, or basement rather than a pile? Those jobs have their own pages: see our garage cleanout, basement cleanout, and estate cleanout services.

  • Boxes, bags, and accumulated household clutter
  • Broken furniture and household items
  • Exercise equipment, bikes, and old toys
  • Rugs, curtains, and other bulky textiles
  • Small appliances and old electronics
  • Leftovers from a move, a renovation, or a cleanout
  • Single large items that will not fit in your bin

Straight talk

What we cannot take

Hazardous materials are the one hard no: paint, chemicals, solvents, asbestos, and similar items. They require specialized disposal that junk trucks are not permitted to provide. When in doubt, ask before your pickup; we would rather tell you now than surprise you at the door.

Why people call for general junk removal

The pile is rarely the real problem. The real problem is the thing standing between the pile and the landfill. These are the ones we hear most.

No truck, and the friends with trucks stopped answering

A hatchback moves boxes, not a broken treadmill. Renting a truck means a rental counter, a fuel refill and a dump fee, all for a load you still have to lift yourself. One pickup replaces the whole chain, and items too dirty for the inside of your car are no concern for the inside of ours.

The city will not take it

Municipal bulk pickup has a list of what it accepts, a schedule measured in weeks, and often a curb rule or an HOA rule on top. Some transfer stations want a resident permit and close early on weekends. Apartment buildings may have no bulk service at all. We take the load from where it sits and deal with the disposal side ourselves.

The lifting is the obstacle

A back injury, a recent surgery, a staircase, or simply being one person with a two-person item. Nothing needs to be carried, stacked or brought downstairs before we arrive. The crew is insured and uniformed, which matters to a lot of families booking a pickup at an older parent's home.

Moving, and not everything is worth moving

Long-distance movers charge by weight, military moves have a weight limit, and a smaller place has fewer walls. We take what did not sell at the moving sale, what the lease says cannot stay, and the flattened boxes and packing material once you have unpacked at the other end. When the closing date moves up and the house has to be empty in two days, call early: same-day and next-day slots exist in most areas. Buying a home and the previous owners left a basement full? See basement cleanouts.

A room that needs a new job

The junk room becomes a home office, a nursery, a guest room for the holidays or a space to rent out. Point at everything that is not part of the plan. The room is empty and swept the same day, and usable items go to local charities.

Spring cleaning produced more than the bins hold

Seasonal clear-outs, the week after the holidays, a New Year declutter that actually happened. Bags of worn bedding, cracked storage bins, luggage, broken vacuums, toys with missing pieces: mixed and unsorted is fine. Sorting for donation and recycling is part of the service.

Guests arrive tomorrow

A party in the backyard, family flying in, an open house. When the deadline is a date on the calendar, a single visit clears the garage corner and the side of the house in an hour or two.

The storage unit you are paying rent on

Monthly fees for things nobody has visited in years add up. Meet the crew at the unit, keep what you want, and we empty the rest so you can hand back the key.

Boats, trailers, camper shells and mobile homes

Old boats, utility trailers, truck camper shells and mobile homes are bigger than most pickups, and we take them on. Where an item is titled or registered, the owner provides the title or the paperwork the state requires before we haul it. Fuel and oil have to be drained first, since they fall under our hazardous materials exclusion, and a mobile home needs its utilities disconnected by licensed trades. The firm price is confirmed during the on-site estimate.

How a pickup works

  1. Tell us what you have

Send a photo or a quick description and we reply with a ballpark estimate based on how much truck space your load will need.

  2. Pick a window

Choose a time that suits you, including same-day and next-day slots in most areas. Our uniformed, insured crew arrives on time.

  3. Approve the firm price

The crew looks at the actual load and confirms an all-in price on the spot, free and with no obligation.

  4. Watch it disappear

We carry everything out, sweep up after ourselves, and you pay only when the work is done. No deposit at any point.

What does junk removal cost?

Junk removal is priced by volume: the space your items fill in the truck determines the price, not the hours worked or the number of items. A few bags cost less than a half truck, and a half truck costs less than a full one. Unusually heavy materials can affect the final figure because disposal facilities charge by weight. You will always know the exact price before anyone lifts anything. See our pricing page for how the truck-space tiers work.

  • Priced by the truck space your load fills
  • Firm, all-in price confirmed free on-site
  • No deposit, and nothing owed until it is done
  • Labor, hauling and disposal fees all included

Where your junk actually goes

Most loads never see a landfill in full. We sort what we collect: usable furniture and household goods go to local charities, metal and electronics go to recyclers, and green waste is composted where facilities exist. Whatever remains is disposed of properly. If you want to know what happened to your items, ask the crew; they are happy to tell you.

Frequently asked questions

What is considered general junk removal?

Any mixed, non-hazardous load that does not belong to a specialty category: household clutter, broken items, boxes, and one-off bulky pieces. It is the catch-all service, and it is our most common job.

Do I have to sort or bag anything first?

No. Leave the pile as it is. Sorting is part of the service, and it is also how we separate donations and recycling from true waste.

Do you offer same-day junk removal?

In most areas, yes, along with next-day pickups. Availability depends on your location and the day's schedule, so call early for the best odds.

How much space does my junk take up?

A good rule of thumb: a three-seat couch is about one eighth of a truck, and the average single-car garage cleanout runs a quarter to a half. Send a photo and we will estimate it for you before you commit to anything.

Do I need to be home for the pickup?

Being present helps, since the firm price is confirmed in person before work begins. If you cannot be there, call us and we will arrange it in advance.

Should I tip the crew?

Tips are never expected and always appreciated. We wrote an honest guide on this exact question on our blog if you are curious what most customers do.

Do you take treadmills, ellipticals and weight benches?

Yes. Exercise equipment is one of the most common general pickups. The crew takes apart what will not fit through the door.

Can you empty a storage unit?

Yes. Someone with access meets the crew at the facility, the price is confirmed on-site, and the unit is cleared and swept in one visit.

My HOA does not allow a dumpster. Is a pickup an option?

Yes. A crew and a truck are on-site only for the length of the job, so there is no container sitting on the street or the driveway.

Can you haul away an old boat, trailer or mobile home?

Yes. If it is titled or registered, have the title or the required paperwork ready, and drain any fuel and oil before the crew arrives.
