Cleanouts

Hoarding Cleanup & Cleanout

When a home has filled up over years, deciding to clear it takes more courage than the clearing itself. Junk Rhinos handles hoarding cleanouts with patience, privacy, and zero judgment, because that is the only way this work should be done. We show up in plain work uniforms, treat the person and the home with respect, and clear things at whatever pace the situation allows. No commentary, no raised eyebrows, no rush.

Who calls us

Sometimes it is the person who lives in the home, ready for a change. More often it is a son, daughter, sibling, or friend helping someone they love, or a landlord and family working together on a move. Every one of these calls starts the same way: a private conversation about what the situation is and what outcome you need. However you arrive at this page, you will not be the most difficult case we have seen, and you will not be treated like a case at all.

Situations that lead to a cleanout

Most people do not call because they decided to. Something outside the home set a date. If one of these is your situation, you are in ordinary company.

A notice from the city, the landlord or the HOA

A code enforcement letter or a lease violation comes with a deadline and very little guidance. Tell us the date and what the notice requires. Often the requirement is narrower than it feels, such as a cleared yard, working exits or access for an inspection, and the plan can be built around that first.

A repair or treatment cannot start

The plumber cannot reach the pipe. The furnace cannot be serviced. Pest control will not treat until the floor is accessible. A home inspection could not be completed. In these cases we clear what the trade needs cleared, to the standard they give us, and the rest of the home follows at whatever pace suits the person living there.

Making it safe for someone who is staying

For an older relative, a person using a walker or wheelchair, or someone coming home after surgery, the goal is not an empty house. It is a clear path from the bed to the bathroom to the kitchen to the door, exits that open, and nothing stacked against the electrical panel or the heater. We can do exactly that and nothing more.

Paper

Mail, newspapers and documents on every surface are slow work, because paper is where the important things hide. The crew separates obvious waste from anything with a name, an account number or a signature on it, and boxes that second group for the family to review.

One thing that took over

Sometimes it is a single category: a bedroom of broken electronics, a garage of saved materials, a yard of collected scrap that the neighbors have started to mention. These jobs are more contained than whole-home cleanouts, and much of the volume is recyclable metal or e-waste.

A professional suggested it

Social workers, case managers, visiting nurses and adult protective services regularly recommend a cleanout as part of a larger plan. We are comfortable taking scope and pacing from that team, with the resident's consent, and keeping them informed of progress if you ask us to.

Straight talk

Our ground rules

Privacy

Unmarked conversation, discreet crews, and no discussion of your job with anyone you have not authorized. Neighbors see a work crew, nothing more.

No judgment

Our crews are briefed for this work. The state of a home is a circumstance, not a character verdict, and everyone deserves workers who understand the difference.

Your decisions

Nothing leaves the home without a decision behind it. You, or the person you are helping, stay in control of what goes and what stays, room by room and item by item where needed.

How a hoarding cleanout works

  1. Private walk-through

We visit, look at the home together, and give you a firm price for the scope you choose. Free, confidential, no obligation, and no pressure to start tomorrow.

  2. A plan that fits the person

One room at a time, one floor at a time, or the full home in stages across days: the plan follows what the resident and family can handle, not a standard template.

  3. Sorting as we go

The crew works systematically, separating obvious waste from items to review. Anything that looks personal or valuable goes to the review pile, never straight to the truck.

  4. Removal and donation

Approved items are hauled out, with usable goods donated to local charities and recyclables routed properly. Even from difficult homes, more items find a second use than families expect.

  5. A livable finish

Cleared rooms are swept and left safe to move through, and the home is returned to something workable: space to walk, to clean, to breathe, and to take the next step from.

Valuables, documents, and the things that matter

Filled homes hide important things: cash, jewelry, photographs, legal documents, keys. Our crews actively watch for them, and everything found goes into the set-aside pile for the family to review. We would rather hand you a shoebox of maybe-important papers than let one certificate reach the truck.

You set the pace

Some cleanouts run start to finish in a day. Others go room by room across weeks, with pauses when the person at the center of it needs to stop. Both are normal here. Progress that lasts usually beats speed, and the crew will never turn your family's hard day into a race.

Straight talk

What we do and do not do

We are a removal and cleanout crew: sorting, hauling, donation, recycling, and a clean, safe result. We are not therapists, organizers, or medical professionals, and we will never pretend otherwise; many families work with a counselor or professional organizer alongside the cleanout, and we cooperate with that team gladly. Homes involving significant biohazards, heavy soiling, or sanitation risks need a specialized remediation company for that portion, and we will tell you honestly at the walk-through if that applies, then handle the volume removal that is our part.

What does a hoarding cleanout cost?

Pricing follows the volume removed, like all of our work, with the full figure confirmed at the private walk-through before anything begins. Staged, multi-visit plans are priced by stage, so nobody prepays for progress that has not happened. There is no deposit, and nothing is owed until work is done. Our pricing page explains the volume model.

  • Priced by the truck space your load fills
  • Firm, all-in price confirmed free on-site
  • No deposit, and nothing owed until it is done
  • Labor, hauling and disposal fees all included

Frequently asked questions

Will the crew be discreet?

Yes, entirely. Plain uniforms, no lettering about the job type, no conversations with neighbors, and nothing shared with anyone you have not named.

What if we find valuables or documents?

They are set aside for you, always. The crew is trained to watch for money, jewelry, papers, and photos, and the family reviews everything found before disposal decisions are made.

Can we go at our own pace?

Yes. Single-day, staged, or paused-and-resumed cleanouts are all normal. The plan bends to the person, not the other way around.

Does the person have to be there?

No, though someone authorized to make decisions does, in person or by phone. Some residents prefer to be away during removal days, and that works fine.

Do you handle biohazards?

Serious sanitation issues need a specialized remediation company for that portion of the work, and we will say so plainly at the walk-through. We handle the volume: the belongings, furniture, and accumulated items.

How do we even start?

With one private phone call. Describe the situation in whatever words you have, and we will tell you honestly what we can do, what it involves, and what order to do it in.

We received a code enforcement notice. Can you work to the deadline?

In most cases, yes. Share the notice at the walk-through so the plan covers what it actually requires first. We do not deal with the city on your behalf, but we can confirm when the work is complete.

Can you clear only walkways and exits rather than the whole home?

Yes. Safety-focused partial cleanouts are common, and the person living in the home decides what stays.

Can you work with a social worker or case manager?

Yes. With the resident's or family's permission, we take scope and pacing from the professionals already involved.
