The new couch arrives Thursday
Delivery crews bring the new sectional in, and most of them will not take the old one out. Book us for the morning of the delivery, or the day before, and the old piece is gone before the truck with the new one pulls up. Same-day and next-day slots in most areas exist for exactly this kind of deadline.
One heavy piece and one staircase
Sleeper sofas, recliners, solid wood dressers and oversized entertainment centers built for tube TVs all share one trait: they went up the stairs once and nobody wants to be the one who brings them down. A single-item pickup is a normal job for us. Two crew members, padding on the rails, and it is over in minutes.
Downsizing, and the china cabinet does not fit
Moving from a house to an apartment or a smaller retirement home means some furniture simply has no wall to stand against anymore. We take the pieces that did not make the floor plan, and anything in good condition goes to a local charity first. If the whole house is being cleared, our estate cleanout service is the better fit.
The kids outgrew it
Bunk beds, cribs, changing tables, a futon that survived college. Outgrown furniture is often too worn to sell and too bulky to give away. The crew disassembles what needs disassembling in the room, carries it out in pieces, and donates what still has life in it.
It did not fit on the moving truck
Movers refuse damaged pieces, the truck fills up, or shipping a wardrobe overseas costs more than the wardrobe. We pick up what is staying behind, including from a home you have already left, as long as someone can give the crew access and confirm the price on-site.
Thinning out rooms before listing photos
Realtors often ask sellers to thin out the furniture so rooms photograph larger. We clear the pieces your agent flagged before the photographer or the staging company arrives, and leave the rest exactly where it is.
Water-damaged, warped, or fell apart in the move
A dresser that sat in a damp basement, bookcases warped in storage, a particleboard wardrobe that did not survive being moved. Condition does not matter to us. Pieces past donating are broken down so the metal and clean wood can be recycled.
Pianos, safes and other heavy pieces
Some pieces are heavy enough that people assume nobody will take them. We do. Tell us what the piece is and where it sits when you book, including any stairs, and the crew plans the carry before the truck arrives. The firm price is confirmed on-site before anything moves.
Pianos
Upright pianos and spinets are the ones we see most, from living rooms, basements and upstairs rooms. Grand pianos come out too. Mention a grand when you book so the crew can plan the route.
Pool tables
The table is taken apart in the room, and the slate comes out in its separate pieces. That is how a pool table leaves a basement game room without anyone wrestling it up the stairs whole.
Gun safes
Empty the safe completely before removal day, firearms and ammunition included, and leave it unlocked or open. Safes are among the heaviest single items we carry, so tell us the size and which floor it is on.
Massage chairs and arcade cabinets
Both weigh more than they look and are awkward on stairs. They leave the same way as any other bulky piece, with the crew doing the lifting and the padding going on the rails and door frames.
Donated first, recycled second
Furniture in usable condition goes to local charities, which is better for your conscience and for the piece. Furniture too worn to donate is broken down where practical so that metal frames, springs, and clean wood can be recycled. What remains after donation and recycling is disposed of responsibly. Condition decides the destination, and the crew sorts that out; you do not need to judge your own couch. When the charity issues a donation receipt, we pass it on to you.

How to get ready (two minutes, not two hours)
- Clear a walking path to the piece if you can; if you cannot, tell us and the crew will manage.
- Empty the drawers. Dressers travel better without socks in them.
- Sleeper sofas: no need to remove the mattress from the mechanism, we handle it.
- Decide before we arrive if any nearby pieces are staying, so nothing leaves that should not.

What is the cheapest way to get rid of unwanted furniture?
Free options exist: selling, giving away locally, or a charity pickup for items in good condition. They cost time instead of money and usually require curb delivery. A removal service costs money but removes the piece from wherever it sits, on your schedule, in any condition. Many customers try the free route for a week, then call us.
Can you take furniture from inside the house?
Yes, from any room on any floor. Inside pickup is the standard service, not an extra.
Do you take sleeper sofas and sectionals?
Yes, both, including oversized pieces. The crew disassembles what needs disassembling.
Is my furniture good enough to donate?
If it is clean, intact, and free of major damage, there is a good chance a charity will take it, and we will get it there. Worn or damaged pieces go the recycling route instead. Either way, hauling it is our job, and judging it kindly is our policy.
Can you remove furniture the same day I call?
In most areas, yes, same-day or next-day depending on the schedule. Call before noon for the best chance at a same-day slot.
Do I need to disassemble anything first?
No. If a bed frame, table, or wardrobe needs breaking down to leave the room, we bring the tools and do it.
How do I get rid of one single piece of furniture?
Exactly the same way: single-item pickups are normal jobs for us, priced by the modest space one piece takes in the truck.
Do you take broken or water-damaged furniture?
Yes. Condition only decides where the piece goes afterward, not whether we take it. Damaged furniture is broken down for recycling where practical, and the rest is disposed of properly.
Can you pick up the old furniture on the same day my new furniture is delivered?
In most areas, yes. Tell us the delivery window when you book and we will schedule the pickup ahead of it, so the room is empty when the new piece arrives.
My movers would not take a piece. Can you?
Yes. Pieces left behind by movers, or left out because the truck was full, are common single-item pickups. We can collect from a home you have already moved out of if someone can meet the crew.
Do you remove pianos?
Yes, upright, spinet and grand pianos. Tell us the type and where it sits, including any stairs, when you book. The firm price is confirmed on-site before the crew starts.
Can you take a gun safe or a pool table?
Yes to both. A safe must be empty and unlocked before the crew arrives, with all firearms and ammunition removed. A pool table is taken apart in the room and carried out in pieces.
Do you take massage chairs and arcade cabinets?
Yes. Both are heavy and awkward on stairs, which is exactly the kind of carry the crew handles. They are priced by the space they take in the truck, like any other item.
Will you take furniture that has bed bugs or other pests?
Yes. Tell us when you book, so the crew can bag or wrap the pieces before carrying them through the home. Treating the home itself is a job for a pest control company.
